In 1998 Penny founded Ecademy, the UK’s first social network for business, with her husband Thomas. Ecademy is now a global operation with members in over 200 countries. Underpinning the network’s success is the powerful feeling of being part of a community and the strong intention that each member has towards supporting one another.
Penny’s unique contribution to the world of social networking is that she has created a hugely successful network herself. She is the public face and voice of online networking. This has given her an insight into the power of social capital as an asset for all to create.

In September 2010 Penny launched the world’s first Digital Coaching business, Ecademy Digital School, teaching people how to become a Digital Coach and Companion, building a network of Digital Coaches to teach ethical online behaviour and how to build a personal digital brand. Penny once again saw a new industry and a new set of needs and is enjoying helping existing Business and Life Coaches adapt to the new digital needs for their clients.
On the 10th March 2011 Penny launched her Manifesto for Digital Business Britain and is gaining a huge level of support within the UK, requests are also being made for her to co-author Manifesto’s in other countries, at the route of her Manifesto is to reduce unemployment, increase the skills of Small Businesses and improve the culture of online communication to ensure the UK has an ethical business brand online.
