Peter Jones CBE
As a small child, Peter Jones used to sit in his father’s office chair, dreaming of the day when he would be a multi-millionaire. His first sense of business acumen came when at age 16 he combined his two loves – sport and economics – and formed his own tennis coaching school.

In 1988 Peter founded Phones International Group, providing mobile cellular solutions to a broad range of clients, which, in recent years, has been recognised as one of the most successful UK businesses. The Times/Ernst & Young recognized Peter as Emerging Entrepreneur of the Year in 2002. Today, Peter has interests in a wide range of companies and a variety of markets which collectively generate sales of more than £250 million and employ more than 1,000 people.
He has personally invested in more than 25 businesses spanning publishing, new media, television, entertainment, food products, the environment and product design in a varied and growing portfolio, which nurtures and develops emerging entrepreneurs and innovative products and services in the UK and internationally.
Peter’s TV life really began in 2005 when he was invited to join the panel of the hit ground-breaking BBC Two show, Dragons' Den. In 2006, he worked with Simon Cowell to create a new business reality format show for America's largest network, ABC - The American Inventor. It first went on air in early 2006 and was re-commissioned for a second series which aired in 2007.
In 2007 Peter starred in ITV’s business show Tycoon, which saw Peter and his team searching the UK for the next big business Tycoon, mentoring six entrepreneurs, helping them to turn their business dreams into reality. For the first time, members of the public were able to own shares in the winning business.
In January 2009, Peter was awarded a CBE in the Queen’s New Year’s Honours list for services to business, entrepreneurship and young people.
